How do you change the transmission fluid of an automatic transmission 1990 Honda accord EXR?

The service on that vehicle is very easy. On the bottom of the transmission there is a drain plug. Pull that plug out and wait for the fluid to drain completly. Reinstall the plug and fill with HONDA transmission fluid that you buy from the dealer. the filter is not serviceable on this vehicle so dont worry about it. Where do you put the transmission fluid in your 99 Chevy Malibu can't find where it goes?

Many of the newer automatic transmissions do not have a dipstick or a way for you to easily add fluid. Try a transmission shop. On a related note, many transmission shops offer a discounted service, then show you metal in the pan and try to tell you that you need to rebuild the transmission NOW claiming that it's about to fail, leaving you stranded. The reality is, it's not necessarily an indicator of how long the transmission will last. Just change the fluid, replace the filter and tell them that you don't want to rebuild the transmission right now. If it isn't slipping or having any other noticable symptoms, just wait for it to fail.

Where do you add transmission fluid in a 1995 Ford Aerostar?

Who many Quart go to 2005 Nissan sentra 1.8 s transmission?

The best time to change the transmission is after it has been driven. It requires 5 quarts. I would wait the next day and check the transmission from a cold start. In other words, the transmission warm up takes 5 minutes. Once you start up the car, wait three minutes and shift through the gears to work the transmission fluid through. Once the you reach the five minute mark, pull out the dip stick and check the level it should cover the cross hairs completely, not be within the zone like the instruction manual states. Be sure you add a little transmission fluid at a time. Once you add the fluid it will cover the dipstick appearing to be more, wait about 20 to 30 secs to let the transmission you added which is coating the dipstick to see the true reading.

How do you change the transmission fluid on a 1998 Toyota Camry?

Run the car until it reaches operating temperatures. Turn off the engine. Jack up your car. Remove the transmission drain bolt which you can find in the transmission fluid pan. Make sure you do not spill the fluid. Use a special oil collecting pan. Be careful the fluid maybe very warm. After that wait until all fluid drains out. Remove the transmission fluid pan to change the transmission filter (you should change it every time you change the fluid). Wash it brake part cleaner or something like that. Remove all sand and dirt around the place. Install a new filter, and a new transmission fluid pan gasket (usually sales together with the filter). Install the pan make sure that you don't overtighten the bolts. Install the drainage bolt. Refill the transmission with required amount of the fluid (do not overfill). You can refill the fluid through the dipstick access ports, you will need a funnel. Also not many people know that the differential has it's own amount of the fluid which must replaced together with transmission fluid. The same fluid should be used for both. Remove the drainage bolt which you can find at the bottom of the differential. Drain out all fluid. Install the drainage bolt. Remove the refill bolt (it's better if you do it before you drain out the fluid). You will have to have a special refilling sirange. Using the sirange refill the differential. To make it properly your car must on a flat surface, or should be parallel to the surface even if you jack it up. There is a positive feature with the differential. If you have installed/leveled the car properly, you cannot overfill it. When it's too much of fluid it will start to drip down (collecting pan must be used). Wait until all excessive fluid make its way out. And install the refilling bolt.

I have transmission fluid in my radiator and going into the antifreeze reservoir but theres nothing leaking on the ground.?

Your transmission cooler tank (its inside of your radiator) has gotting a leak in it. Your tranny fluid & antifreeze are being mixed with each other. You need to have your radiator fix & a complete flush of both the tranny and radiator. If your transmission has not slipped any you will be ok as long as you don't wait about having it fixed. The longer you wait about having it fix the more damage it can do to your tranny. Your hub that holds your tranny clutches (the band) has a glued sand paper like material on it that the water will harm if trere to long.

Transmission fluid coming out of top of dipstick?

The transmission was overfilled when cold and overflows when hot after driving. There are usually two marks on the dipstick, cold and hot surprisingly. Fill to the appropriate mark. Also wait a minute and measure again after allowing the fluid to settle.

How do you get a transmission to downshift in a Dodge Caravan?

This often happens when the transmission fluid is low or needs replacing. As a temporary fix until you can do something about the fluid: If you stop (like at a traffic light), turn the key to off, wait a second or two and then restart it will shift again
