After WWI the civilians of the defeated European powers felt they had been misused by European Royalty and gradually turned to worker rebellion. The same as facilitated the Communist uprising in Russia. The reparations imposed on German were barely sustainable due to the availability of US loans. This all came crashing down when, after the Wall Street collapse in 1929, the US withdrew those loans causing inflation to runs wild in Germany and creating unrest by which Hitler could capture an increased part of the vote. Having wandered from one political persuasion to another during which time he established an iron hand of discipline using the SA and the Nazi Party, the German Bankers decided that in order to protect their assets, the discipline of Hitler was preferable to worker chaos and so Hitler was appointed Chancellor appointing himself the fuhrer or leader while dismissing any input from von Papen who was his mentor, demanding that all swear allegiance to himself personally. His plans were to make Germany the dominant power in the world with his methods based on relentless cruelty as a means by which to convinse the opposition that it was futile to resist.

Japan's attacks on China in the thirties, during which she was defeated by the Russians in the North, caused them to reevaluate their strength, especially when faced with the US oil embargo as a means of restricting their demonstrated plans for war and their their atrocities in China. Any hope of success required swift action before the rise of US power depleted any hope of success. The attack on Pearl Harbor on the 7th of December 1941 was modeled on an earlier successful British raid on the Italian fleet in harbor in Italy. The German attack on Russia in mid 1941 also scared the Japanese that as an ally of Germany, they may have been required to attack Russia in Northern China. This was a most unwelcome thought as the Russians had already bloodied the Japanese nose quite severely. So it was, that six months after Germany attacked Russia, Japan was sufficiently emboldened to begin her blood-soaked attempt at expansion in the South.
