Check for a leak at the weep hole of the water pump. It may be evaporating before it ever hits the ground. If you find a leak at the weep hole, the pump needs replacing. If you do not find the leak there, then I would have a compression test done on this engine. If you find one cylinder's compression is way below the others, suspect a blown head gasket, especially if the engine has overheated recently. Well, I looked @ it and from what I can see (which isn't much) looks like its leaking on the passenger side (kind behind the dash) looks like a possible hole in a metal line? Could it be something else if it's leaking in that area? I had same problem my heater core needed to be replaced. Plastic ends that went thru firewalls were splitting. new one are made of metal. cost about 30.00
No, the system is only checked at normal operating pressure. No, the system is only checked at normal operating pressure.
im having the same problem with my 1994 I've replaced the heater core, thermostat, radiator,i checked the coolant, and it's not over heating or nothing and still no heat lol
If it's overheating, it cold be thermostat, radiator or possibly other problems. If it's not overheating it could be the coolant level sensor.
9.6 qt coolant capacity
had a bad overflow tank that wouldn't hold pressure
You would have a leak in the coolant system somewhere and you need to have the system pressure checked.............
Low coolant? Radiator plugged or restricted? Water pump not circulating coolant? Thermostat not opening? Cooling fan not working? Hoses collapsing under pressure Defective radiator cap?
A coolant leak on a 93 cavalier could be anyplace where coolant flows. Check all hoses, connections, the radiator, and heater core for any possible leak spots.
If coolant level is correct - could be a defective sensor
Your check engine light will not come on because your coolant needs to be changed. The only way to be totally sure why it is on you should get it checked with a computer at a dealer or service station. The check engine light may come on if it is over heating because there is no coolant in it but not if it just has to be changed.
Low coolant, bad coolant tank cap, stuck thermostat, or clogged coolant line.
