most likely not The problem is likely a pressure control solenoid or more likely a broken spring in the valve body assembly. There is a purple spring in the body in the pressure control port that is known to break
no the shifter linkage are not the same between the sohc and dohc
This could be bad spark plugs or plug wires
it could be the crank sensor or the ignition coil.unless you have bad plugs and wires.

Hi the correct torque is 10-12ft pounds as it is an aluminum and any greater torque will cause the bolts to stip out , beware mitchell on demand has two torque sequences and it is a misprint. I learned the hard way from the Machine shop $$$.

The timing chain itself is not hard to change , but the engine has to be removed to do it, that is why it is such a costly job if taken in to a garage . a common fault i believe on these engines .
