Yes, Christopher Columbus discovered America and the Native Americans living on it.
The above answer is partly wrong but I am going to put the correct answer below it and give some interesting facts.....
When Columbus set sail across the world he went the wrong way. So, when he hit the piece of land that we know was a America (it wasnt called America back then) he actually thought it was India and so when he saw the black people living there (who were the native Americans) he called them the Indians which is why the native Americans are also known as the Red Indians. Columbus did only discover the Indians because he thought he had reached India and America didnt even exist back when he travelled. America was discovered when Europeans started to move there making the journey west and they called it 'America' and took over the land by driving the Indians away. People have been making mistakes for years thinking that Columbus discovered America when infact he had only discovered the people living upon it because as I just said he thought he was in the country India because he went the wrong way. I hope this has answered your question.
No. He never saw North America nor knew it existed. He found islands in the Bahamas on his 4 voyages.
Columbus never landed any where on the North American continent. In the time of his explorations the United States did not exist and would not for another 290 years.
He made 4 trips landing on South and Central America on the last two.
He refused to believe that he did not find India. This may be why the continents are named after Amerigo Vespucci

Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain. He also did it for himself. He actually didn't find America for anyone. His discovery of the Americas was a fluke. He was trying to find India and got really lost. He was, however, sent out by Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain.
