Himmler viewed Slavs (Poles, Russians, Eastern Europeans), as sub-human and important only in that they become slaves to the Teutonic (specifically) German people. I'm talking about GENTILE (non-Jewish) people here. The Nazi's killed millions and millions of non-Jews and viewed them as racially inferior to those of Germanic (German, Scandinavian, Dutch, English, Austrian) stock.
Within all of us is the propensity to do evil on all different levels. Hitler and Himmler basically brainwashed German Soldiers in to killing the Jews by telling them they were the low life of the planet. They believed the Aryan People should be the only perfect race left on earth. The link below explains the concept.

The wikipedia article on Heinrich Himmler gives an overall picture. One of the key people in the National Socialist (Nazi) party, his power grew out of his place as the head of Hitler's bodyguard, the Schutzstaffel or SS, which expanded beyond all recognition. He also had control of the Gestapo, the German secret police. He eventually became the second most powerful man in Nazi Germany, second only to Hitler.

Heinrich Himmler did served for the German Empire during World War 1 between 1917 and 1918. He was in the German Army and served in the 11th Bavarian Infantry Regiment. He only had a rank of Fahnenjunker (Cadet).
By about late 1939 very few Jews in Germany or Austria had jobs any more and those who did (for example, in the professions) were only allowed to work for other Jews. That would be the Holocaust. It may also be referred to as the 'Final Solution' devised primarily by Heinrich Himmler, one of Hitler's closest friends. Incidentally Adolf Hitler was not at the meeting at which the Final Solution was devised. _________ If that meeting referred to is the Wannsee Conference of 20 January 1942, Himmler wasn't present, either. The meeting last only 90 minutes and was concerned with matters of detail: the key decision had been taken earlier.
Throughout his life Hitler had few friends. Hitler had only one childhood friend, namely August Kubizek. Later in his life he had other friends like Goebbels, Hermann Goering, Rudolf Hess, Heinrich Himmler, Martin Bormann and Reinhard Heydrich, but near the end of his life Hitler considered only Eva Braun and his dog Blondi as his friends.
When Heinrich Himmler - then only an associate of Hitler - announced the creation of these work camps in Spring of 1933, he referred to them as a place where the many arrested Communist and Social Democratic officials could be 'concentrated.' And so the name came to be.
so his country could be free!
