Malcolm X was born into poverty and then was sent to jail in his young age for larceny and breaking and entering. In prison he drew close to the Nation of Islam and after getting out of prison he join them as a preacher and very soon became the most prominent member of the nation. However, he started drifting away from Nation of Islam and after performing pilgrimage to Mecca he entered mainstream Sunni Islam and parted ways with the Nation of Islam. It can be safely said that despite all his passion, talent and qualities of head and heart Malcolm X was never really sure what he wanted to be or do in future.
