NO...the Confederate States of America only wanted to separate from the Union or northern states and become independent not unlike the American colonies wanted to become independent from Great Britain.

Originally there were 7 states then later 11 states in the Confederacy. The first CSA national flag had 7, 11, and then 13 stars in a circle. Two border states (Missouri and Kentucky) did not secede from the Union but had representatives on both the USA and CSA legislatures. That is why there were 13 stars on the first CSA flag. During the Civil War the CSA was not part of the USA, they were considered a separate nation. During the history of the Confederacy there were three different "official" flags of the CSA. After the defeat of the Confederate Army of Virginia and arrest of their President Jefferson Davis the southern states were returned to the United States of America.
