The Cyprus Regiment was part of the British Army in WW2. Typically, the British regiments had a regimental cap badge and maybe wore their name on a brass badge or cloth patch on the top of their sleeve. The cap badge was s shield with 2 lions with a scroll underneath it having their name and topped with the King's crown. I'm not sure if they wore a sleeve device. It was the first all-black regiment in American History.
Not in WW2. Before 1939, each US Army Infantry Division had 4 infantry regiments. This proved to be too large for use on the battlefield. So the size the division was reduced and one regiment was removed. So the 3rd Infantry Regiment could have been part of a Division before then. However, during WW2 the 3rd Infantry Regiment was not part of an infantry division. Source: http://www.custermen.com/ItalyWW2/ArmyOrg/OrgChart/Divisions.htm
Usually Field and Staff. Every regiment had ten companies, each commanded by a captain assisted by several lieutenants. Each company had one hundred men. Once assembled into a regiment the men would elect their "Field" officers - a colonel to command the regiment, and a lieutenant colonel as second in command, and a major. Staff officers were selected, including a quartermaster, a commissary, a regimental surgeon and so on. So, the Field and Staff were the headquarters group of a regiment; the personnel beyond those serving in one of its ten line companies.
Sizes vary with the structure and the structure varies depending on budget and the needs of the country. It could be up 10 regiments in a Division. The normal Table of Organization calls for three Infantry Regiments and one of them will be an artillery Regiment.
The manual of arms for color guards armed with rifles must be synchronized so that the rifles move (e.g., off of or to the shoulder) at the same time. Since the left rifleman is at left shoulder arms and the right rifleman is at right shoulder arms, moving to and from the right/left shoulder to the order, present or back the shoulder often involves different "counts" in the movement for each rifleman. To get the rifles moving together one or the other of the riflemen will have to do an occasional pause in the manual of arms so the other rifleman may catch up. When executing the rifle manual, both riflemen will wait for the senior color bearer's command of "Ready, CUT" before executing the final count of the movement.
Primus. You do not have a small patch of skin on my shoulder and I did not get sunburned yesterday. Secundus. Skin cancer does not develop overnight Tertius. This is not a site for diagnosing medical conditions, if you are concerned see your doctor
Almost certainly. BSA Councils often make commemorative shoulder patches and so frequently come up with new ones.
According to Army regulation 670-1, the U.S. flag patch is to be worn on the right or left shoulder so that the star field faces forward.
44th Home Counties Division saw active service in France and was then sent to the Middle East. It was disbanded after the battle of El Alamein where it fought in the Southern sector of the front line. The British used shoulder patches to designate Divisions. Then they would use small colored flashes for brigades or branch, such as artillery. Some wore an arc patch above the Divisional patch with the Regiment's name. So a British uniform could have 2 or 3 or even 4 colored patches on the sleeve. Most divisional formational patches were square or round and had some image in the center. I did not know of any that was a solid color or oval in shape. But I found it in my reference book. Note: The Canadian Divisions wore a solid patch in the shape of a rectangle. The 1st Canadian Division wore a maroon patch. Just for a comparison. The other divisions wore patches of light blue and red and one other color. Cyprus Solutions is not a business so it does not sell anything. Cyprus Solutions is a term commonly referred to when talking about fixing problems in Cyprus.
The Buffs are/were the East Kent Regiment.
Cyprus is a country and London is a city, so by size, Cyprus is clearly bigger than London. However, by population, London is bigger than Cyprus.
No. Cyprus is an island, so you can drive until Greece and then use a boat.
Cyprus is an ISLAND in the Mediterranean, so it isn't possible to drive all the way there.
