To a large extent, people took their prejudices with them across the Atlantic. So, some people from Northern European countries, for example, tended to look down on migrants from Southern Europe (such as Italy). Protestants often looked down on Roman Catholics, and so on. However, newcomers generally didn't face discrimination simply for being recent arrivals.

No. The only time that the Europeans deserved any segregation was before the US was independent. At that time, the Europeans gave themselves so many abilities in America that if a European ever was segregated, mistreated, or killed, then whoever was responsible would experience serious consequences.
