Yes. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints "the 'Mormon' church) believe that The Bible - Old and New Testaments - is the Word of God. English speaking Mormons use the King James Version of the Bible.

The Church is currently producing a series of short films depicting scenes from the New Testament.

We believe the entire Bible. Although the passage in 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 was actually referring to the Hebrew-Aramaic Scriptures, or Old Testament, it can be also applied to the Christian Greek Scriptures, or New Testament. This fact is partially implied by Peter's words about Paul's writings, as recorded in 2 Peter 3:15, 16.

In short, Yes.

Christian answerJehovah's Witnesses believe in their interpretation of the New Testament which is fundamentally different from that used by the whole of the Christian Church for the last 2000 years, including the beliefs of the early Church that could trace their teaching back to the eyewitnesses of events surrounding Our Lord, and Jesus himself.

While they 'believe' in the New Testament, they only believe in passages that appear to support their own Arian beliefs. Arianism was declared a heresy way back in the early church because Arianism denied the divinity of Christ and was discredited and disproved by those who could actually remember - or were taught by those who could remember - the actual words and actions of Jesus Christ himself.

To add credence to their own beliefs. and to act as ammunition for critics, the JW organisation published the New World Translation of the Bible which subtly (and not so subtly) mistranslated passages to support their Arian heresy. JWs will, of course, maintain that their translation is the best there is, but almost all Bible scholars, scholars of ancient and Biblical Greek, theologians, Biblical textual critics, church leaders, biblical archaeologists and so on, when asked, regard the JW 'Bible' as a travesty of scripture's original intent.

*** w82 9/15 p. 6 God's Name in the "New Testament" ***

God's Name in the "New Testament"

MOST translations of the "New Testament" use no distinctive name for Almighty God. Why not? Is it that they are scrupulously following the Greek text? In many cases that evidently is not their chief concern, because they do not use the name Jehovah in the "Old Testament" either. Yet in the original Hebrew, in addition to there being words for Lord and God, the proper name of God appears nearly 7,000 times. (In the entire Bible)

Some translators have realized, however, that the divine name belongs in the "New Testament," if for no other reason than that it contains direct quotations from the Hebrew Scriptures where the name is used. So it is of interest that, in the German language, there are at least five "New Testament" translations that contain the divine name.

One of these, the translation by Dominikus von Brentano in 1796, which uses the divine name twice in its main text, has been referred to in past Watch Tower publications. Two additional translations use that name at Mark 12:29-one, a translation by Stolz, published in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1781, and the other, a translation by Professor Dr. Johann Babor, published in Vienna, Austria, in 1805. There is also the so-called Bonner Bible, translated by Professor D. P. Dausch and published in Bonn, Germany, in 1932, which uses "Jahve" at Luke 20:37.

Another German translation uses the name, Jehovah, ten times in the "New Testament." This is a two-volume translation of the New Testament of the Holy Scriptures that appeared in Munich, Germany, in 1789 and 1790. Although the name of its translator is not given, the book Die Bibel in Deutschland (The Bible in Germany), on page 281, says: "The translation is by [Sebastian] Mutschelle. Born on January 18, 1749, in Allershausen bei Freising, he joined the Jesuit order at an early age."

Yes. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that the Bible is the sacred word of God. They regard the King James Version as the most accurate English translation yet completed and use the entire Old and New Testaments as holy Scripture.

No, that would mean Jesus is the Messiah. Go to Aish.com for why Jews do not accept Jesus as Messiah

Jews do not accept both the Christian Old and New Testaments as valid texts.

What did Mormons believe Jesus was going to do?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of mankind. They believe in the Old Testament prophesies about him and the New Testament account of his earthly ministry. They believe that he suffered and died on the cross to atone for our sins. Mormons believe that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ to all those who have faith in him. They, like all Christians, look forward to the time when Jesus Christ will return to the earth, as promised in the Bible. Unlike other Christians, Mormons also believe that Jesus Christ visited the people of the Americas following his crucifixion and resurrection. The account of this visit is found in the Book of Mormon. You can learn more about what Mormons believe about Jesus Christ at the "Related Links" below.
