Republicans say they aren't against helping the jobless; they just want the spending to be offset by budget cuts so that it doesn't swell the deficit. The Democrat way is to insist we add it to the national debt at the same time, while blocking Republican efforts to pass the same extension without the debt
The Democratic Party believes in Immigration reform. It seeks reform around four basic principles.
First, to adequately secure the borders so that persons of different nationalities are required to use the American system of immigration laws to live and work in the United States.
Second, to focus on employers who exploit immigrant workers to the detriment of American workers.
Third, to seek responsibility from undocumented workers now in this country and insist that such workers become part of the immigration system in a healthy way. Healthy for the worker by protecting access to worker earned benefits and healthy to the family of the worker by not tearing up families who have otherwise obeyed our laws.
And, forth, to reform the current law in a manner that provides for the American economy. It does no good to limit immigration to only wealthy educated immigrants when this nation has traditionally needed a significant agricultural and construction workforce.
But, immigrant labor must be paid the proper wages and the proper benefits so that American labor is not put at a disadvantage.
To the republican it is a natter of pride that a country like Australia should be a republic. their thinking is flawed because Australia has total self determination and the titular head of state play only a ceremonial part, even the powers that are bestowed by the constitution in case of situations where the government becomes unworkable are already decided before a ceremony calls for new elections to decide the matter. Most republicans look to the flawed system of the USA with a commander in chief replacing a purely ceremonial leader. They are confused or plotting to become the leadership.
Yes they do. They support legal immigration because they believe it creates good diversity and helps make America stronger. They don't support illegal immigration because, uncontrolled too many immigrants at a time causes a severe drain on our resources. The Democrats like to present the Republicans as mean spirited when it comes to immigration but the fact is that is simply not true. Republicans believe that everyone should have a chance based on their own willingness to work their way up. Democrats believe that by "giving" things to people they will somehow learn self reliance. It has never worked nor will it ever work.
In The Bible it tlks about if you give a man a fish you can feed him for a day but if you teach him how to fish he can feed himself forever. Still holds true today.
An interesting fact lost in our history... Everyone knows that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. Few people remember that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican.
Republicans are rarely pro-immigrant because it's one of the characteristics that distinguish them between the Democrat's party. They feel that the best way to win support from people in America is to be more towards the anti-immigrant than pro-immigrant. They only get good support when they promise to get rid of illegals with criminal records, but when they say they will never pass a reform or the Dream Act, that's when they almost completely lose support.
Some feel that Republicans are only against "illegal immigration", but the truth is that they never do anything that helps immigrants, neither legal or illegal.
Immigration is not a right. The rules for immigration; who comes in, where do they come from, why do they seek to enter the country? these are questions answered by law. In the United States elected representatives of the people gather in Congress to create that law.
Immigration law is one of the most complex areas of law. Lots of competing and non-competing interests seek advantage in areas that are important to them. For example an engineering firm may seek to bring into the country foreign trained engineers. That company will have an interest in how the law is written.
Pulling apart this tangle of interests and demands and philosophical insights is a difficult chore even for folks who are experts in immigration law.
So it is equally difficult to explain the views of a particular political party. This is a case where you will find 'Politics makes strange bedfellows.'
However, that being said, popular vision of the immigration law tends to focus on the hot button issues such as amnesty. The Democratic Party will probably embrace the bi-partisan solution of tougher border controls with an equally tough path to citizenship for foreign citizens who have not violated laws and have peacefully produced a life for themselves in the United States.
tax the middleclass and tax breaks to the upperclass
The republican party believes all Mexicans coming acrooss the border should be shot, then tarred and feathered.
Northeastern business owners Immigration advocates Wall street traders.
During the latter part of 1800s, many people began to view the Republicans as party of the upper class, as the Republican leaders were often wealthier businessmen, and the party's actions did tend to favor business over farming.
strict gun control laws, more money allocated for welfare programs, and more lenient laws on immigration
Most Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, Conservatives, and Independents are good people who just differ on their point of view about government.
