If you have more than one belt you only have to take off the one you need to replace, or to get to it .

First one must disconnect the battery in the Honda CR-V EX. Then, the mounting bolts, bulkhead cover and splash shield must be removed. The belt and power steering pump must then be removed. Once the alternator mounting bolts are removed, the alternator can be safely removed and the new one installed. The steps must then be performed in the reverse order to put the car back together again.

The alternator is located behind the head of the engine on the passenger side of the vehicle. There are 3 bolts that will have to be loosen or removed so the alternator can be removed too. Also the electrical wires will need to be removed. There should be at least 2 of them. One snaps or pulls off and the other can be loosen with a 10 mm wrench of socket. You'll need a 12 mm socket or wrench and a 14 mm wrench or socket to get to the bolts. Once that is acquired, the alternator should come right off. You'll need to go under the vehicle to gain access to the bottom bolt of the alternator. Replace the new one in reverse order.

You disconnect the battery, remove the belt, remove the bolts you can reach from the top and remove the rest from the bottom. I removed some brackets that hold tubing tight and removed the alternator from the bottom. Installed in reverse order.

it is recommended that inexperienced people consult a mechanic when performing any type of vehicle maintenance. to replace an alternator you will need -replacement alternator -sockets and wrenches -patience once you have everything, you can begin. whenever working on any electrical car component, it is important to disconnect the battery. You do not need to disconnect the positive terminal, only the negative. the reason for this is that the entire engine is connected to the negative side, allowing components such as spark plugs to have only a positive wire connecting to them. after the battery is safely disconnected, removal of the alternator is a simple matter of removing 2 bolts, 2 wires, and pulling it out. after that, simply reverse the process to install the new alternator. it may be necessary to remove other hoses or components in order to create a space large enough to get the alternator through. if this is the case, just be sure to replace the removed parts.

the owners manul should say what to do. I would replace the alternator if you can't find anything its very simple. You need to find the alternator and then take off the screws. Make sure that you have a replacement first and that the spark wires are in the right order. Then replace the alternator by taking out the old one and putitng in the new one. Lastly just tighten the screws and your good to go. If the car hasn't been run for a while take out the spark plugs and spray some starting fluid in the cylinders , or spray some wd40 in the alternator when you replace it. You can also go to a mechanic and they'll know what to do.

If you're mechanically inclined I recommend you buying a Chiltons or Haynes repair manual for the 1991 Ford Probe. Most provide the info on removing and reinstalling the starter. Also you might check your local library/s for these manuals. , EzForJesus the alternator is located behind the engine. the passenger side axle shaft must be removed in order to get the alternator out. make sure you disconnect the battery first.

No but sometimes it makes it easier The serpentine belt is easily removed without removing the fan shroud This has to be accomplished by using a tensioner wrench

In order to replace a wheel bearing, the tire must first be removed on a Volvo v50. The wheel cowling can be removed exposing the bearings. After taking the bearings out, clean the housing and repack the bearings.

In order to take off the existing alternator belt you must take off the power steering belt first. For each belt (the alternator belt and the power steering belt) you will need to loosen a couple of bolts that hold the belts tight. There is also a bolt used to adjust the belt tension that you must adjust. I would purchase a CHILTON or HAYNES maintenance manual from an auto parts store or a book store. It will explain this very well and it has pictures.

Hello. I just replace the alternator on our 2001 Focus with 70K on the odometer. The job took about an hour. However, before you replace yours, check the continuity through the electrical plug connection at the alternator. This is a weak point of the Focus and can cause the alternator to not charge the battery properly. If the plug checks good, you must replace the entire alternator (as of 12-20-06, the part costs about $165 for a rebuilt unit in South Carolina). Here are the steps: Remove the positive battery cable. Unplug the wires from the alternator and slide them from the plastic support bracket. Connect a short extension onto a 3/8" ratchet and slide the end of the extension into the square hole on the belt tensioner. Rotate the ratchet handle so as to remove the tension from the belt. Slip the belt from the alternator only. Remove the two bolts from the front of the alternator and one nut from the underside of the alternator. Hint- To ease removal of the alternator, remove the electric fan housing from its mount by pushing on the two top tabs with your fingers. Lift up on the fan housing and slide it out of its lower supports. The housing can then be moved several inches out of the way to allow the alternator to be easily removed. Install the new alternator in the reverse order.

Not that difficult - everything is on the top of the engine. Take the serpentine belt off first, disconnect the wires and attach them to the new alternator in order. Then take the bolts out (they are obvious) and change the alternator - put the belt back on - that's usually the hardest part and your done.
