Yes. They have a thick gelatinous cell wall. I think, due to this, they do not participate in quorum sensing like many other bacteria that are colonial. ( do not quote me here; I am an ethologist, not a microbiologist )

Do cyanobacteria have cell walls?

Yes. They have a thick gelatinous(jellylike) cell wall.

Layers of fossilised bacteria?

Cyanobacteria are larger than most bacteria, and may secrete a thick cell wall. More importantly, cyanobacteria may form large layered structure.

How is cyanobacteria like algae and land plants?

Although cyanobacteria do not have chloroplasts, they do have thylakoid membrane, where photosynthesis occur.

How are cyanobacteria different from other bacteria?

A cyanobacteria obtains its energy from photosynthesis and bacteria can get energy from almost anything. Bacteria can survive in soil, water, hot springs, waste, and in the Earth's crust and cyanobacteria cannot.

What type of cell has a cell wall besides animal and plant cell?

Prokaryotes (bacteria) have cell walls but no organelles.

How cyanobacteria cell specialisation helps it function?

The cyanobacteria reproduce by simple cell division known as?

germination

What is a outer supportive structure of a plant cell?

The cell wall supports and protects the plant cell.

What protects the plants cell?

cell wall

Given that prokaryotes lack membrane-bound organelles why do cyanobacteria which are prokaryotes possess membrane-bound thylakoids?

Cyanobacteria were formerly known as blue-green algae which are photosynthetic. Thylakoids in the cyanobacteria are not separate organelles as we see in eukaryotic cell (eg:chloroplast). In fact the chloroplasts of eukaryotic cells were originated in a endosymbiotic event where cyanobacteria was taken up by the cell. Please read about enodsymbiosis.

What part of the cell is strong and stiff and hard to get through and only found in plants?

The cell wall. But it is not only found in plants, both bacteria and fungi have cell walls too.

Plant cell organelles that contain photosynthetic pigments are 1chloroplasts 2ribosomes 3chromosomes 4 cell wall?

Chlorophyll and other pigments of photosynthesis are mainly in chloroplasts. There are also pigments such as carotenoid present in chromoplasts. Photosynthetic pigments are also found in cyanobacteria.
