I believe it does but this is entirely my own theory. All depend on what type of headache you are talking about. If you are talking about a migraine headache then is possible that protein has some to do with if not a lot. This is because high protein food takes longer to digest and in turn undigested food is notorious to trigger headache. Also, carbohydrates assist in the generation of serotonin, and low serotonin can set up a situation where a person is prone to migraines.

If you are talking about sinus headache, you could be getting it because you may be allergen to gluten which is in itself a type of protein. On the other hand a vegetarian is less prone to get a headache because his/her metabolism work much faster and therefore less chance to get intoxicated with poisonous food in consequence of excess of protein.

Changing your diet can cause headaches if you are not getting proper nutrients or adequate hydration. 95% of headaches are caused by dehydration. If this is the case, guzzle down a big glass of filtered water,and within 10 minutes your headache should go away. Magnesium is also another factor in some headaches,especially migraines. I would see your doctor if they continue and get a magnesium test.

Plus you can drink unlimited amounts of herbal tea, decaffeinated coffee and tea with acceptable sweeteners (without sugar).
