Suggest replacing all the belts also. 1st belt, remove coolant res. loosen the pulley next to the res. then there is a tension bolt behind it. get under the car, the alternator is right there on the passenger side. possible under a small shield. loosen all the bolts on the alternator, then there is a tentioner on the alternator. loosen that, remove belt, then take out the rest of the bolts, along with the plug and the ground wire to the alternator. for the P/S belt, loosen the other pulley 14mm, and then the tention bolt is another 12mm.
The alternator on your 1999 Nissan Maxima can be found on the front of the engine. The alternator will be on the right hand side of the engine.
If it is the same 3800 engine as the 1993 Lesabre--very simple. Alternator is right on top of the engine. Loosen the serpentine belt ( tensioner) - remove the mounting bolts that hold the alternator on the bracket- remove the wire connections.
the alternator belt on a 1995 Nissan 240sx is located on, guess where.... the alernator!!!!! perhaps you are having trouble locating the alternator? it is located underneath the throttle-body, which is where the butt-end of the air-intake enters the motor. for a better view look at your motor from the passenger side, and the alternator can be found to the right of the oil filter. to loosen the aalternator belt, you will need to loosen the tension, which is the bolt going into the top of the alternator from the front-to-back. this bolt is located directly under the area previously mentioned, where the butt-end of the intake enters the motor through the trottle body. there are also two more bolts holding the alternator in: one from the top passenger side, going through that tensioner bolt from left to right. and also another bolt on the bottom of the alternator which will have to be accessed from under the car, going from front-to-back.
its a little of both. From the bottom you can reach the wires and the bolts just get someone to help loosen the bolts on the top and it will come right down.
Bolts on the caliper of a 1999 Monte Carlo will loosen to the left and tighten to the right.
To change the alternator belt on a Mazda 323, first remove the right hand air shield under the can. Then locate the pulley tensioner of the AC and loosen the bolts on the pulley. Finally, remove the alternator pivot bolt under the alternator to remove the old alternator belt and replace with a new one.
There are only two bolts. Loosen both, so that you can get the belt off. Then take them all the way out, and the thing'll fall right out, pretty simple.
Loosen the tensioner pulley. The tensioner pulley will slide to the right. This will loosen the alternator belt. So it can be removed.
If it is a drive belt and not a serpentine belt is has no tensioner. You manually adjust the tension by normally adjusting tension by moving the alternator. Loosen to bolts holding the alternator in place and then adjust the tension. Tighten the bolts when the tension is right. If it is serpentine belt if you follow the belt around the the engine you will see the tensioner.
The alternator on a 2001 Nissan Sentra is replaced by loosening the serpentine belt tension, loosening the alternator bolts, and slipping the belt off the pulley. The alternator can then be unbolted, the wiring harness disconnected, and a new alternator put in place.
First you will want to loosen the alternator. To do this you will need to loosen the bolt holding adjustment bolt in place. This is right under the alternator. After loosening this bolt, you can use the adjusting bolt to loosen the alternator and the belt should slide right off. Then you can put on the new belt and tighten the alternator using the adjusting bolt. After the belt is to the proper tightness, tighten the bolt directly underneath the alternator to keep the belt tight and from becoming loose.
