simply pour the fluid down th dipstick hole........
on the 1987 GL it is hidden under the spare tire on the passenger side, the dipstick hole is also the fill hole. get the book "How to Keep Your Subaru Alive", best car manual I've ever used
you will either have a hatch mark or a hole drilled in the dipstick if you have the hatch mark then at the bottom of the mark if a hole then the bottom hole
you need to put a ratchet in the squere hole and turn it to the right.
Theres a plug on the side of the transmission. You'll have to get under the car. Why do you need to fill it? To check the level on a manual, undo the plug and put our finger in the hole, level should be at the bottom of the filler hole. On a Auto check with the dipstick and add thought the dipstick.
Older engines have the dipstick on the driver's side. There is a hole in the side of the block between 5 & 7. Newer ones have the dipstick tube in the passenger side of the oil pan.
Probably around 1/2 quart. Drain the oil and just put in enough to reach the full mark if it has a dipstick. If it has no dipstick then fill it up until oil runs out the fill hole.
the dipstick hole is on the passengers side about 2 inches behind the knock sensor *on pre 1978 blocks the hole is on the drivers side in the same orientation as mentioned The dipstick hole is kind of right behind the starter. If your dropping it in an older vehical you wont have the knock sensor of course.

There is no dipstick. You check the fluid through the fill hole on the side of the case. The fluid should be level with the bottom of the hole.
Take the dipstick out out put it through the small hole were the dipstick goes
