no you do not have to change the timing chain when changing the water pump.
A Dodge Durango does not have a timing belt. It has timing chain. If the timing cover chain gasket is leaking it is normal to change it while changing the water pump.

If you have timing chain it means that your water pump is connected to one of the belts. So the answer is no. But make sure that you have timing chain. Because if you have timing belt then the water pump is connected to the timing belt. And the latter one has to removed if you want to change the pump.
