I just changed one. I took the lower part of the dash loose. To take the lower part of the dash loose remove 2 nuts on the outside corners of dash and remove a screw in each of the 2 brackets toward the center of the dash. There were 2 bolts that hold the steering wheel to the dash. I removed these bolts and let the steering wheel drop down about an inch so I could pull the dash out a couple inches to get to 2 clips on the rear seat diverter cover (first plastic cover to get to the heater core).
See "How do I change the heater core on a 91 Corsica?"
Drain the water from your 1990 Chevy Corsica cooling system. Remove the heater core water supply hoses. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
you have to remove the dash and steering column then the heater box I have done many and its at least 1.5 days to do.
Your 1996 Chevrolet Corsica cooling system. Remove the water supply line and the water return line. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
removing the retaining bolts.
You will have to remove the whole instrument panel. Then lower or remove steering column. Then disassemble heater case. Best taken to a dealer due to possible steering column issues, not impossible though. is it the same as a 1998 heater core replacement
do I remove steering wheel to change out ignition
The heater core is located on the passenger side, not the drivers side. You do not have to remove the steering column or any parts around it.
IF YOU HAVE A/C, YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE EVERYTHING BUT THE STEERING COLUMN (IT'S THE FIRST PART MOUNTED UP UNDER THE DASH)
drop the steering column, remove entire dashboard.
You have to drop the steering column, and remove the dash assembly. Then you can remove the heater module and remove coil from top. It is a pretty tough job. Took me near 8 hrs. continuous work.
The heater core is located behind the glove box .. the best way to acess the heater core is to remove glove box cup holder ash tray remove radio and slowly remove dash you might be able to fenagle the heater core out with tilting the dash down but u have to drop the steering colum for that.. remove the two hoses at the firewall.. removethe screw holding both the hoses down and pull the heater core straight up
Remove the lower dash panel in the drivers side it will be in the right of the steering coluum. == ==
