NO!If you are talking about the Engine Oil Filter, then the answer is NO! You will find it screwed on to the block somewhere on the engine. If you are talking about the Transmission Fluid Filter, the answer in most cases is Yes. Most transmission filters are located inside the transmission and access is gained by removing the pan. But on some like Honda, the filter can only be accessed by disassembling the transmission. These are considered a lifetime filter. Answerno

The Engine Oil filter can also be extended and mounted on the firewall or wheelwell.

Do you need to loosen the screw on the oil pan to change the oil or just take off the oil filter to drain the oil and replace filter?

There is a plug on the oil pan that needs to be removed to drain the oil from the oil pan. Remove the oil filter AFTER the oil pan has been drained in order to avoid a big mess. You might want to start the engine and let it run for a FEW minutes - just enough to warm up the oil, making it easier to flow and drain. Just be sure you start the engine BEFORE you drain any oil from the car ... warm up the oil, shut the engine off, pull the plug and drain the oil, etc. as explained above.

How do you change oil pan gasket 2003 Ford Escape?

To change the gasket on the oil pan of a 2003 ford escape you will need to first drain the oil from the car and remove the oil filter. For easier access to the pan itself you might want to take off the cars catalytic converter monitor. The oil pan is held on with eighteen bolts that will need to be taken out. Once the pan is off the car take a plastic gasket scrapper and use a rag to clean the surface area where the oil pan was touching the car. This process will also need to be done to the oil pan itself. Once both surfaces are clean place the new gasket on the pan. Take some silicone gasket maker, approximately 10 milometer dot between each bolt hole. Place the pan back on the bottom of the car and replace the bolts. Replace the oil filter and fill with oil.
