Since the company was sold in 1990, some styles are no longer made in the USA: they are made either in China or in Mexico. But others are still made in El Paso, Texas; the best thing to do is check the label inside the boot to see if you are purchasing one that was outsourced or one that was made in America.

Look inside the boots. If they have a black label that says El Paso Texas Made in USA under Tony Lama they are vintage from around 1970 or before.

Then for a while they were made in Mexico. Those are stamped Made in Mexico under Tony Lama on the back of the boot shaft. The ones I have from Mexico also have a white label that says Tony [big blue & white star] Lama TM. The words are in red and the star is between the words with they y and the L on top of the star. The TM is smaller and above the a.

Children's are supposedly made in India. Newer ones may also be made in China or India. The last pair I ordered directly from the Tony Lama plant don't say where they are made, but have C11 in them so they may be made in China.

Those are noticeable lighter than the ones that say Made in Mexico. I have some Made in USA vintage boots on the way so I'll be comparing the quality of those and the Made in Mexico boots soon.

I would have attached photos of the vintage Made in USA but this silly site doesn't recognize the most common type of images (.jpg) so I didn't.

Tony Lama cowboy boots may be purchased direct from the website or from resellers such as Sheplers and Cavenders. They can also be purchased on eBay as new boots, or vintage styles.
