You have to unbolt the entire soft bumper and remove. The dealer did this on my car to replace the headlight assembly.
Pull the complete headlight assembly out to get to the bulbs. You first have to pull the front bumper off, along with the wheel well to get to the headlight assembly.
This just isn't something that you want to do. Remove engine shroud, grill, bumper on the side that you're working on, inner fender fasteners - then you can get to the 4 bolts that hold the headlight assembly in. Did it yesterday - won't do it again. 5 hours :-(
To replace the headlight assembly on on 03 Jetta, the grill and front bumper have to be removed before you can get to the screws below the lamp.
Remove the wiring harness from the back of your headlight assembly. Remove the headlight assembly retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new headlight assembly.
First, you'll need to remove the front bumper. To do this, take off the bolts underneath the front part of the bumper. Remove the bumper turn signals to access the two bolts per side that hold the bumper on the car. Support the bumper by putting something underneath it. Then get a stubby Phillips screwdriver and remove the two screws per side at the end of the bumper (in the wheel well). Bumper should come off. Remove the headlight assembly by diconnecting the headlight sockets, remove the 10mm bolts above each headlight assembly. Remove the 10mm bolts below the headlight assembly. Done.
yes along with the headlight
you have to remove the two screws on top of the headlight assembly then you have to reach under the headlight between the headlight and the bumper and pull it out.i'd use a piece of cloth to cover the chrome on the bumper this vaw you don't scratch it.once you pull out the assembly then unplug it and change the bulbs you want..
To replace the whole headlight, the bumper has to be taken off of the 00 Celica. No way around it. =\
# Remove the front bumper cover # Remove the upper headlight housing mounting bolt and pushpin # Remove the lower headlight housing mounting bolts # Pull out the headlight housing assembly and disconnect the electrical connector
there is 3 10 or llmm nuts on the back of the headlight assembly, then once that is removed there will be 4 torx screws that hold the headlight trim in place, once these are removed then bumper fillers can be installed.
remove the bumper, you will then see the bracket that holds the bottom of the light to the car. the rest is pretty self explanitory once the bumper cover is off
