Yes. Penn Station is the only Amtrak station in New York City.
MetroNorth from Poughkeepsie goes to Grand Central. Amtrak from Poughkeepsie goes to Penn STation. It's very easy to take MetroNOrth to Grand Central and then get the subway to Penn Station.
From Lynbrook, NY, you take the Long Island Railroad to Penn Station. From there, you can get to Harlem by using NYC Subway, Amtrak, or NYC Subway plus Metro-North.

Yes. NYC has an extensive subway system with 24 lines serving all boroughs except Staten Island. In addition, New Jersey Transit, Long Island Railroad and Metro-North trains have service between NYC (Penn Station for NJT and LIRR, Grand Central for Metro-North) and the surrounding areas. Amtrak trains also stop in Penn Station.

New York's Penn Station is at 31st to 34th Streets, between 7th and 8th Avenues, in Manhattan. It is located below Madison Square Garden. The main entrances are at 33rd and 34th Street.
No, it leaves from Grand Central Terminal. The Scarsdale station is a Metro-North station, on the Harlem line. The terminus for Metro-North trains is Grand Central, not Penn Station.
E-train north.
Are you sure you have spelled that correctly? Because I can only find a "Strasburg" not "Strausburg" in Pennsylvania.Assuming that you meant "Strasburg": Amtrak Trains do not stop at Strasburg, but they do stop at Lancaster, PA, which is pretty close. Only 8 miles away.See the Related Link below for the Amtrak homepage. Under "To" type in "NYP" for New York Penn Station, and under "From" type in "LNC" for the Lancaster, PA, station. If you click the tab that says "Stations" at the top of the page, you can get maps and directions to the station.
The only Number 6 train you may be referring to is the MTA Subway number 6. This train line does not go to NYC Penn Station, but does go to Grand Central Station. The best suggestion is to take the MTA "S" train (for Shuttle) that gives you a very fast trip from Penn Station to Grand Central. There you will find the number 6 train.
Penn Station is at 34th Street so it is 20 blocks away from 54th St. You would take the subway two stops north.
