== == The 1.7 Liter 2001 Honda Civic has a timing belt. Replace it at 110,000 miles. WARNING: This is an Interference engine. If the belt breaks, severe engine damage will occur. Also, on this engine the Water Pump is driven by the cam belt. Replace the water pump at the same time as the belt to save yourself labor charges when the pump fails. Life of the pump is about the same as the belt, so it makes good sense to replace them at the same time, even though the pump may appear to be good. I would also have a complete cooling system service done at this time. New thermostat, flush & fresh coolant.
