No, the knock sensor helps the engine computer control ignition timing. The water pump pumps coolant through the engine, heater, and radiator.

What causes water to get in water jacket with knock sensor?

Assuming you mean coolant (shouldn't run straight water), the coolant is pumped through the water jacket by means of the water pump. This is part of the cooling process for the engine. The knock sensor happens to be where the drain plug used to be.

Where is the coolant temp sensor on 2000 Ford Powerstroke 7.3L?

It is located on the top of the water pump with an electrical plug on top of it. I just changed my water pump and the coolant temp sensor has to be removed from the old one and installed on the new water pump. On the 2000 model the fan pulley is on the water pump. Look behind the fan and belt, on the top of the water pump and you will see the plug on top of the sensor. JWM1031@aol.com

How do you replace the water pump on a 1985 Chevy Caprice Classic?

In 1994 GM changed the water pump to a reverse flow water pump along with a lot of things. The rest is right out of the Chilton. But, I own a 95 so believe me it is true. 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Disengage the wiring harness from the cooling fan assembly, then remove the assembly from the vehicle. 3. Drain the engine cooling system the engine cooing system, removing the block drain plug and the knock sensor to assure the proper draining. Reinstall the drain plug and knock sensor, as soon as the system is empty. 4. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the water pump assembly. 5. Remove the heater hose assemble from the water pump and from the throttle body. 6. Disengage the coolant sensor wiring harness, then reposition the ignition coil and bracket assembly. 7. Remove the shorter water pump retaining bolt from the center of each pump mating flange, then remove the longer pump bolts from either side of the center bolts. 8. Carefully remove the water pump assembly and gasket along with the pump shaft coupling. the water pump is in the front of the engine just remove the belt and the screws out

Where is the coolant temperature sensor for the fans on a 1998 camaro 5.7l?

It is the sensor located in the water pump. It is a 2 prong plug, screwed straight into the front of the water pump. The other sensor that is located in the cylinder head is for your gauge.

Where is the knock sensor on a 1995 Subaru legacy?

I believe the knock sensor is housed at the top of the oil pump. It should be visibly located under the alternator. It's wire should share the same main cable routing as the oil pressure sending unit which is just above the knock sensor and under the left side of the alternator when standing in front of the car. Nothing posotive here, don't quote me

Where is the coolant temperature sensor in a 2000 Ford ka?

Changing au falcon knock sensor?

Make your way to the front of the engine, remove the plastic v-belt cover from the power steering pump inlet, the sensor sits just above the crank pulley. There's a plastic plug with two wires which needs to be pulled out from the knock/crank sensor. Then use a small spanner to loosen the 2 screws on either side of the sensor.
