No! A pound is a pound. 5 pounds of fat and five pounds of muscle weigh the same -- 5 pounds! However, muscle is much more dense and compact than fat, so it takes up a lot less space and you look a heck of a lot better when your percentage of lean body mass is higher than your percentage of fat.

ANSWER!

Fat actually weighs less than muscle per Cubic inch because muscle is so much denser. That is one of the reasons why BMI numbers can't be trusted. And we arent talking about 5 pounds of fat vs 5 pounds of muscle, were talking about the weight of n amount of muscle vs n amount of fat. Muscle would be much heavier.

Yes, muscle weighs more than fat.

People who argue that one pound of fat weighs the same as one pound of muscle are correct but that proves absolutely nothing. One pound of anything weighs the same as one pound of anything else. The basis of the statement is that by volume muscle weighs more than fat, and that is absolutely true.
Muscle all the way
They both weigh the same.

They do not weigh the same. If you put a piece of fat next to a piece of muscle that are identical in size, the muscle weighs about 20% more. Muscle weighs more than fat.
Yes
One pound of fat and one pound of muscle weigh the same, however, for volume, one pound of muscle is smaller size wise than one pound of fat as it is more dense. This is why if your weight does not change but you decrease your body fat percentage and increase muscle mass, you could look thinner.

The question isn't "does 1 pound of muscle weigh more than 1 pound of fat", its "does muscle weigh more than fat" and the answer is yes. If you take a piece of fat and a piece of muscle that are identical in size and weigh them, the muscle weighs more.
yes
Muscle density is 1.06 g/ml and fat density is (about) 0.9 g/ml.
Yes
Fat is more of a Gelatin substance. It isn't very dense.

As for Muscle, it it heavy because it is a working part of your body. It is more dense and is used more often.
Muscle does weigh more than fat; it is denser than fat.
Muscle is more dense than fat.
Yes Muscle tissue is more dense than Fat tissue.
Muscle weighs more than fat
1lb of anything weighs less than 3lbs of anything else.
Three pounds weighs more than one pound.
fat floats, muscle sinks.
A pound is a unit used to measure how heavy something is. Where muscle takes up less space as 1 pound of fat, it weighs as much as 1 pound of fat.

If you were to take a cup of muscle and a cup of fat, the cup of fat would weigh less then the cup of muscle.
Muscle is denser than fat, meaning it weighs more for an equal volume.

Does muscle weight more than fat?

A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle. There is no difference. However, they do differ in density. Muscle tissue tends to be more dense than fat tissue because it has more water. This means that a muscular person would generally displace less water (have less volume) than a fat person of the same weight, and that a muscular person would weigh more than a fat person who displaces the same amount of water (equal volume).

Is muscle bigger than fat?

No. Fat and muscle are different substances. If you lose weight, then muscles that were previously hidden by a layer of fat may be revealed, which can create the illusion of muscles coming from fat.

Why do you look fat but weigh little?

Lots of people think they are fatter than they really are, and fat is less compact than muscle. This means that 1kg of fat is more noticeable than 1kg of muscle. Also, muscle weighs more than fat. For example, me and my friend are both 14, roughly the same height and the same weight. But he is thinner with most of his weight as muscle on his arms and legs, whilst a lot of my weight is fat stored mainly on my belly, and partly on my thighs and buttocks. So although we weigh the same, I am fatter

People with less body fat have more body weight?

In general, muscle weighs more than fat because of the water content in muscle. So when comparing two people of roughly equal size, the person with more muscle will weigh more.

Which weighs more - muscle or fat?

This is a common myth. The easiest way to understand this is to look at it this way... 5 lbs. of fat is much bulkier than the 5 lbs. of muscle, but five pounds is still five pounds. Muscle does not weigh more than fat. Fat is bulky and lumpy so if you carry an extra five pounds of fat, you'll be lumpier than with five pounds more muscle. A five pound pile of fat will take up more space (volume) than a five pound pile of muscle; but five pounds is still five pounds. A woman weighing 150 pounds with 19% fat will look much smaller (and be much healthier) than a woman at 150 pounds with 35% fat. They weigh the same, yet the composition is different. Because muscle is more dense than fat the person with less fat and more muscle will look smaller.
