No, not as long as you observe the firing order so each one goes to the right cylinder. It's usually easier to start with 1 and follow that order. Of course rotor position in relation to the engine is important if disturbed. On a v small block, usually the wires are paired off by length-2 longest for cylinders farthest from distrib, shortest closest, etc.
