If it is not really metallic, it could be a strut, a rubber bushing, a ball joint or tie rod end.
Does the noise occur more often when you go over a bump? Making a turn? Applying the brakes?
If this is for a 1989 Mazda 323 with high miles (kilometers) and the sound is a creaking or rubbing sound, chances are good your front struts are worn out and will need to be replaced. If it is more like a grinding sound, it may either be the steering rack or coupling knuckle (U-joint). I suspect the former, because this happened on my car. Replacing the struts, plus lubricating the spring perches with Silicone grease cured the problem. Cheers Malcolm
This can be a defective left front wheel bearing. Can also be the tire is rubbing against the fender liner. Loose wheel will also cause this. Inspect everything.
The passenger side front tire may be rubbing on the inner fender.
check to see if your brake pads are worn to thin
Brake pads are worn out=========Replace.
check your front cv shafts to see if the boots on the end are torn and missing grease and check all the joints in the front suspension
Check front end components i.e tie rod ends ball joints, struts and strut mounts for wear and looseness
Probably dried out shocks or struts, but it could be bushings in the front steering arms
Rubbing sound front left tire ford f150 bushings on sway bar broke off replaced and still making sound
Your brakes are probably getting low and they are rubbing against the rotor.
I had the same thing on my 2002 caravan sport and I changed the caliper, rotor, and pads and no more clicking.
Check the control arm bushings and any other bushings that may be worn.
