yes it does.
I believe you can change just the ball joint on the lower control arms , the upper ball joints come with a new control arm
remove tires, remove both caliper bridge bolts, put caliper on upper control arm, remove rotor, take out lower ball joint bolt, using pry bar or pipe separate lower ball joint, if not lose already use pickle fork or a bar to put pressure and separate, move steering knuckle away from lower ball joint, use air hammer or equiv. and push rivets out of ball joint. once all three rivets are pressed out ball joint will fall out and re install. install ball joint, some come with bolts and nuts. factory control arm will only come with new riveted ball joint. put bolts and nuts on new ball joint, tighten install zerx fitting, re-attach steering kuckle to ball joint by pushing down on the lower control arm and then forward on the knuckle. to align ball joint with hole on knuckle. re-install new ball joint bolt. once tight grease zerx fitting. re install rotor, caliper ect.
: Lower ball joint replacementI have a 98'. I replaced the lower and the upper. You will need a ball joint fork and a hammer, a grinder and the repair manual for the truck. The manual will explain the proceedure in more datail along with pictures. Lift the lower control arm up with a jack and put a jack stand under it. remove the cotter pin and nut from the lower ball joint. Jack up the vehiclel high enough to put a jack stand under the fram instead of the lower control arm. Jack the vehicke high enough to remove the stand under the lower control arm. Using a ball joint seperator tool, separate the ball joint assembly from the lower control arm.The lower has a (mount) lip on it keeping it in. You will have to grind the rivets holding it on in order for it to fall out. The new lower ball will come with a mountthat will hold it place. replace all the parts by bolting on the new mount withthe included bolts and nuts, and you have it done saving you $400.
You can replace just the ball joints on the lower control arms , but the upper ball joints come with a new control arm
First if you have steel wheels you can remove or loosen the center nut (cv axle nut) before jacking up the vehicle, starting by jacking up your Hyundai and properly supporting it. Take off the tire, for the side that your replacing, take out the cotter key on the lower ball joint, remove the lower ball joint nut (sometimes the nut won't come off completely until you break the ball joint loose from the knuckle), use a ball joint separator (fork) to break the ball joint free from the knuckle, pull the lower control arm down until it is free from the knuckle,
The bottom suspension components on a 2002 Suzuki XL-7 will need to be loosen so the lower control arm can come off. Loosen the ball joint and then the hardware to remove the lower control arm. Align the new arm properly and replace the unit.
if it is original the upper ball joint is riveted in, it will need to be chisel out, there are four rivets and then the nut that holds it to the control arm.new ball joint will come with bolts and nuts
On most cars its possible to remove the lower control arm without removing the axle nut. however sometimes the nut on the ball joint stud wont come off because the axle is in the way. If that happens try loosening the nut as far as you can then pop the ball joint loose. When it drops it will allow you to finish removing the nut. Good luck Tomtv
For the lower ones you need a ball joint press from Autozone. They have those on their loan-a-tool. The upper one's come on an arm and you just replace the arms.
Disconnect the ball joint. I believe on that vehicle its pressed into the lower control arm, if it is then the new control arm should come with a new one, but if not then buy a new one and install it in the new controll arm. You can use the old one but you might as well replace it while you've got all your tools out. After the ball joint is separated from the steering knuckle, undo the bolts that hold the control arm bushings to the frame, and the control arm will come right out. (Will likely take a few good smacks from a heavy hammer to get it to come loose) Watch out for any sensor wires that are clipped to the control arm- dont want to cut/smash them.
The upper ball joints come with a new control arm , as far as I know you can't just change the balljoint ( if that's what you are asking ? )
