For this car your key gets stuck. What you need to do is take off the cover on the bottom of your steering wheel and remove the mostly circular cover and then stick like a pen/pencil(something of that nature) up there and it should be fine for a month or two. I actually had moved mine over a bit and it still works.

Why will your friends 2002 Chevy impala not go into gear?

If it is stuck in park it is most likely the brake lock switch on most cars there's a cable and switch at the shifter from the brake pedal when you push on the brake pedal the switch pulls out and unlocks the shifter so you can shift the car out of park. Some cars have a little slot by the shifter where you can insert a key to unlock the shifter.

What fuse to look for in 2006 Chrysler 300 touring if gear is stuck?

The most common cause of the shifter to be stuck in park is a broken spring retainer in the shifter assembly. The only fuse that could cause that would be the brake lights fuse. If you have brake lights, it is not a fuse problem.

Why wont your ford van shifter go into reverse or drive?

Check and see if you have brake lights - If there are no brake lights then your shifter release solenoid will not release the shifter, it will be stuck in park. If this has happened then please check the wiring on the brake light switch which is located on the brake pedal. You will probably find a broken wire.

How do you repair the brake interlock system in a Chrysler Pacifica It's stuck in PARK?

Possibly the brake light switch is bad. I had a recall on a Ford Taurus that spoke of this problem. The brake light switch releases a solenoid that holds the shifter in park.

When I try to put my 1994 Mercury in gear the shifter won't move Like it is stuck or something What would cause that It was fine when I exited the car?

Two items that might prevent the shifter from moving: # Ignition key lock. If this mechanical part isn't releasing the mechanism to the transmission lever, the shifter will not move. # Brake pedal switch. On some cars, one must depress the brake pedal in order to release the shifter out of Park. Could be a defective switch for that, too.
