What does the front ecu control on a 2000 Mitsubishi galant?
The Front ECU (electronic control unit) assists with control of many electically operated devices, most notably the wipers, windshield washer motor, power windows, head lights, tail lights, and fog lights. It works in conjunction with the ETACS (Electronic Total Automobile Control System), and the Column ECU as parts of the Simplified Wiring System, as Mitsubishi puts it. It is located in the engine compartment inside the L-shaped fuse box. Note that some World spec models do not carry a Front ECU for some reason.

What is Purpose of the electronic control unit?
Electronic Control Unit or ECU usually controls the engine, transmission, or body controls. Modern cars have three of these units for the above mentioned areas. The ECU most commonly is referring to controlling the engine and emission controls. It supplies the engine with the proper fuel, spark, and timing, to make the engine run and perform efficiently without too much pollution.
