If you have made no effort to contact any institution you owe money to and you have been missing payments several times, yes, they can repossess your car. That's why we sign contracts. I would meet with the Manager of the company and try to come to some agreement and then stick to your promise. Most companies don't want to repossess so you might get lucky. However, be warned, if the Manager gives you another chance you stick to it! Good luck Marcy

Can a truck be repossessed with a trailer hooked to it?

Only if the repossessor has an order for repossession of the trailer, as well. And even then, only under certain circumstances. If it's a commercial tractor trailer, and there's a load in that trailer, they may not take it, as the order of repossession does not cover the load, and they will face criminal charges if they do such.In the course of repossessing a vehicle, the repossession agency may not enter or move any vehicle (including a trailer) which is not in their order for repossession. They may detach a trailer from a truck being repossessed, but they can't actually take it.

Can you find my car by the VIN if it was stolen or repossessed?

There are certain strict procedures that an automobile repossessor must follow when he is repossessing your car. The repossessor must notify the police that such vehicle is being repossessed, you did before or after the repossession has occurred. In either case, the police should know right away that the vehicle was repossessed. If this is not the case, then the vehicles like to have been stolen.

How do I repossess an item sold privately?

If you have a written agreement that specifies certain payments are to be made at certain times and for a certain amount, then you might have a chance with getting the item repossessed. Do not do this on your own ... seek legal counsel and make sure you have the law on your side. Best to hire a professional repossession person. Alternatively, if the item was less than $2500, you can go to small claims court. To prepare your case, go online and look at the suggested scripts for presenting a case and prepare your pictures and documents accordingly. You will need copies for yourself, the other party and for the judge. Be matter of fact and do not speak out of turn, and you will do fine. (We won ours against a landlord).

Can co-signing a car loan affect your credit score?

It can have a negative effect if the primary borrower doe not make their payments on time. When you co-sign for a loan you are making a guarantee to the lender that the loan will be paid. If you decide to co-sign for someone else you need to make sure you can pay the loan if they stop making payments and you should also make certain the payments are being made on time. Late payments and missed payments will be reported to your credit record as well as that of the primary borrower.

Can your car get repossessed if you are not 30 days late with payment?

Yes. Most lenders give customers 10 to 15 days grace to make a payment or for a payment made to post. However, by the language of most car notes, anything past a certain period of time (usually two weeks) is considered delinquent, and the balance of the loan is owed. The lender at this point is not required to accept anything less than payment of the remaining balance. And, the vehicle can be repossessed at any time to secure payment of the remaining balance.
