My 1997 Cadillac Catera does the samething! Normally can be done by the Coolant leaking ,Coolant needing to be flushed, a PCV Valve, Coolant Temperature Sensor, Themostat Sticking, oil cooler, and the list goes on. . You should most likely have a "Experienced" Mechanic look at the vehicle to do a pressure test to make sure you dont have any leaks and to see what is actually wrong.
Bad sensor? There is a coolant temp. sensor that goes bad. Mine been on for over a yr doesnt mean it is low....just bad sensor.
Because it is American garbage. no.
There is no dipstick to check the transmission fluid on a 1998 Cadillac Catera. It can be checked by opening the fill plug on the side of the transmission. If you are at that point you might as well change the fluid if you have over 70000 miles.
most of the cadillac cateras had a shut off at 126 but with the shut off took off they will run well over 140
In the engine block (in valley area between banks), on pushrod OHV (Over Head Valve engines). In the cylinder head on SOHC(Single Over Head Cam) or DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam) engines Your Cadillac Catera is a 3 Liter, V6 24valve "DOHC"
It won't cause over heating.....but it can go bad and send a signal that the engine is over heating when it is not.
i have a 1997 cateria the mileage is 238,453 and it costed me over $5000 to keep it running...great when it works get a loan when it don't...
18 I don't think so. Mine only holds just over 12 gallons. In fact that is one of the original complaints that reviews gave the Catera, too small of a gas tank.
To keep the car engine from over heating
Trouble code P0011 means:"A" camshaft postion-timing-over-advanced (bank 1)
Generally if the engine has a knock you need to have the lifters adjusted and at that point the gaskets could be replaced. Good Luck and Remember.Change Your Mind, Not Your Oil.Use the First In Synthetic Motor Oil's.See My Bio For more information.
Over heating can blow a head gasket
