This happened to me last winter. It ended up being that I was low on anti-freeze. I filled up the reservoir with the correct mixture of anti-freeze and distilled water and voila I had heat!
If your oil pressure gauge is high you have to much oil in your engine. Overfilling your engine can result in you blowing out your gaskets.
i just put in a new radiator and now temperature gauge reads high but their are no leaks
Low Coolant or faulty gauge
Yes, a head gasket can blow and cause the engine to overheat. Happens all the time. Yes spaying cold water on an engine that is at full operating temperature can possibly do some damage. Not likely, but possible. Spraying water on a warm or cold engine will do not damage to the engine. It may however damage parts such as the alternator, or some sensors. Never use a high pressure spray.
Replace the engine or have it rebuilt. Once an engine is worn to the point that it has excessive blow by, those are the only real solutions. You could try using a heavier engine oil, but the effect that will have is negligible.
Oil pressure gauges are notoriously inacurate. Pressure should be high when the engine is cold, or the accelerator is pressed hard. It's also possible the sensor is damaged.
Use a gauge and start with 1/2 can - then run engine with AC on high for 3 minutes and then check gauge
The engine coolent may be low enough that sensor is not surounded with coolent when engine is not running.
If your gauge cluster has a tachometer:The "Check engine" light is under the tachometer just below the "1000."If your gauge cluster does not have a tachometer:The "Check engine" light is below the fuel gauge, just to the left of the high-beam headlight indicator.
Either your oil pressure gauge is reading low , your engine temperature gauge is reading high , or your fuel gauge is reading low so your almost out of gas
A high performance engine will run better in the cold the vehicle is at full operating temperature. Cold air is more dense so basically its like your packing in more air into the cylinder.
It has a " check gage " light if the fuel gauge is at or near empty , the engine coolant temperature is high , or the engine oil pressure is low
