Check all electrical - cap, rotor, wires Oxygen sensor(s) - later models have two. One on the exhaust manifold and one at the catalytic converter. My 98 Metro should get 50ish MPG, but is only getting 36 to 38. I know for a fact that the exhaust valve in cylinder 2 is going TU. It has 95 psi and the other two cylinders have 125 psi. I'm sure there might be other things that could cause a drop in MPG, but that's my .02 worth. Replace air filter, spark plugs, and plug wires. Pour a can of Seafoam or Techron Fuel Injector cleaner in a full tank of gas. Check all your exhaust system for a bent pipe. You may possible also have a clogged catalytic converter.
About 39-44 MPG
Yes, it is fuel injected.
bad piston rings.
too much fuel, excessive oil consumption
the fuel pump is inside the gas tank
Yes. A sticking fuel injector can allow far too much fuel into a cylinder.
Fuel consumption varies from vehicle to vehicle and for some the fuel consumption is an important factor when buy a new or second hand vehicle. The Metro Honda gas mileage on a highway is stated on one website as roughly 29/41 mpg.
a bad camshaft sensor will do this. considering it is tuned up properly...
8km/l average driving
Building excessive fuel pump back pressure Overheating fuel pump
Metro Fuel Oil was created in 1942.
I have a 97 Metro four door. The filter is located just forward of the rear axle. If you slide in just in front of the rear driver side wheel, it will be an inch above your nose. On most newer Metro's (and most vehicles manufactured today) the fuel filter is mounted with the fuel pump in the fuel tank. Generally have to drop the tank to service them.
