Look in the right hand side, inside of the trunk.Theres an opening with a red push button switch. If is up push it down to let fuel through the line.If is up,its cutting off the fuel line.
Good Luck!
i have a 94 2 door and mine starts with the lite on.....but the lite goes out after it is runnin
Look in the trunk area on the passenger side. It has a little panel to allow access to the fuel cutoff.
Fuel Injection
check the fuse and change the fuel pump relay.
You push the button on the top of it down to reset it.
To do that would compromise your safety, and of anyone else in the area, if you have a wreck. The purpose is to cutoff the fuel pump if you have a wreck, so fuel is not spewing out all over the pavement. On an Escort, it also locks the automatic seat belts down, if you have them, so you stay in the seat if the door flies open during a wreck.
That's normal. The fuel cutoff does not cutoff the fuel by being pushed in, it cuts off by being popped up. Using a small screwdriver in the slot, push the button up until it pops. If the car is running, it should slowly stall and die. Now, if you did THAT, and nothing happened, the fuel cutoff needs to be replaced. Pushing the button in RESETS the cutoff, it does not activate it.
No, A 91 to a 96 transmission will fit a 94 Escort.
No it does not. Only ford used a Inertia switch / cut off switch.
Just an FYI that it was the timing belt.
Does the car start? because if it doesn't... then your fuel cutoff has been tripped, likely by the car getting hit closer to the gas tank and tripping the cutoff valve. if it's anything like the cutoff in a '91 escort, you should be able to take off the small panel access in the trunk/hatch and reset the switch, if it's the same, it's pretty easy
Probably because the fuel filter is clogged up. Change out the filter. It is on the drivers's side on the bottom 1/3 of the firewall. Since the fuel system is under pressure it will be necessary to run the engine with the fuel cutoff valve actuated to deplete the fuel system pressure before undoing any of the lines. The fuel cutoff valve is in the trunk on the right side about 2/3 of the way up. The carpet on that side has a hole in it to access the fuel cutoff valve. Pop the button up to let the engine run until it is out of fuel. The lines on the fuel system take a special tool to take them off. You can get one of them at any parts store for a dollar or two. Once you have changed out the fuel filter go back to the inertia fuel cutoff valve and push down the button to get fuel in the system.
