I own one, and with gentle driving (sticking to the speed limit) i get about 16-17. If i am in a hurry, it drops to around 11-12. As a side note, I have driven 84 miles on the beach. That is 42 miles each direction at an average speed of about 22 mph in 4wheel drive - low range. The mileage dropped to 4.5 - 5.
When the speed limit gets up to 75 in west Texas the mileage drops to around 13-14.
i agree with the above answer. i own a 96 with the same engine, and get comparable
mileage.the worst i got was 10 mpg towing a 4000 lb trailer. 14 is about what i average.for a big block i think that is pretty good. 96 and up have the multi port fuel injection vortec which definitely helps fuel economy. please note that i"m not a lead foot.plug in your block heater in the winter.
