General Edward Braddock was fatally shot at an encounter with French soldiers and their Indian allies from Fort Duquesne during the French and Indian War in 1755. George Washington was serving as a volunteer and helped carry the General off the field.

Lt. Colonel George Washington and his forces were overwhelmed and captured by French and Indian forces at Fort Necessity in 1754. He also took part of the ill-fated Monongahela Campaign that took the life of General Edward Braddock in 1755.
Edward Braddock was a poor choice of leader during the French and Indian War because he was more accustomed to traditional means of warfare and could not defend against the Indian's guerrilla tactics, leading to the destruction of most of his force.

He told Braddock that the French would attack them from behind and warned him to watch all angles. Braddock then succeeded and won the battle.
