might be sucking air but im not sure i had a similar problem
could also be fuel pressure regulator or faulty fuel pump.
Your oil compression is down probably... check the oil pan for rust and such.

Iv just had the same problem with my 1.6, it's sounds like your engine speed sensor. Cost about £80 from vw dealer.
Engine keeps cutting out. I turn the key off, then turn it back on in about 30 seconds and engine starts easily. but will continue to stop after only a few miles.

loose battery cables can cause a Range Rover engine to shut off randomly. try changing the battery post clamps if they have excessive corrosion.
If it is cutting out and the fan is working and it has proper air for cooling means it is damaged inside and need to be replaced or repaired
either its low or too high of pressures

As you dont say what model/engine Vauxhall, it's hard to say. My guess would be the idle air control valve sticking. When you come to a halt the vale does not open fast enough to prevent the engine stalling. After a few seconds it has managed to open, and then the engine will restart.
If your Yamaha TTR 250 starts but keeps cutting out after a fuel minutes, it might not be getting enough fuel. Check to ensure the fuel line is not clogged.
