Leatherback sea turtles are reptiles, like all turtles and tortoises.
Large sea turtles. The seven existing species are Flatback, Green Sea Turtle, Hawksbill, Kemp's Ridley, Leatherback, Loggerhead and Olive Ridley.
The Loggerhead turtle and Green sea turtle are common sea turtles eaten by the tiger shark. Although, the loggerhead is more than 50% more likely to be eaten than a green sea turtle.
Most are in the family Cheloniidae except the Leatherback which is in the Dermochelyidae family. A Green Sea Turtle is named Chelonia mydas but the Loggerhead is Caretta caretta.
Relatives of the green sea turtle are: green, loggerhead, Kemp's ridley, olive ridley, hawksbill, flat-back, and leatherback. Pretty much all turtle and tortoises that exist are related to the green sea turtle in some way :)
Sea Turtles (superfamily Chelonioidea) are turtles found in all the world's oceans except the Arctic Ocean. There are seven living species of sea turtles: flatback, green sea turtle, Hawksbill, Kemp's Ridley, Leatherback, Loggerhead and Olive Ridley.
