there is never a set time for cooking and kind of meat. it all depends on how hot the grill/pan is and the thickness of the steak. for an inexperienced cook a probe may be the best way of checking the steak with out cutting it open.
the core temperatures you want are

Three to five minutes on each side for a thin cut over a very hot grill will normally get you about a medium. There are many variables to consider. The temperature of the grill and the thickness of the steak are the two biggest. It is best to practice using a good meat thermometer and learn the 'feel' of a steak cooked the way you like it.

Remove steaks from the fridge at least 45 minutes before cooking. Just before cooking, rub steaks with olive oil and generously season to taste. Preheat grill to medium heat (approximately 375°F). Grill 5-6 minutes per side for medium-rare or 6-7 minutes per side for medium. Remove from the grill and top with a pat of butter, loosely tent with foil. Rest steaks 5-10 minutes before serving. Cook times provided are approximate for a 1" steak and will vary based on steak thickness and temperature.
For a medium rare ribeye steak about a 1/2" thick, place in a preheated oven on broil setting for 2 minutes on each side. Let stand for 5 minutes afterwards to ensure serving a juicy cut of meat. If the cut is 3/4", add one minute per side for medium rare.
Depends on what you want to cook. Here's an example on grilling Marinated Flank Steak: The ingredients for this recipe mainly include juice of a lemon, ½ cup soy sauce, ¼ cup dry wine, three tablespoons vegetable oil, two tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, a large garlic and a pound of flank steak. Added to that, you need ½ teaspoon of pepper, a teaspoon of chopped onions and ½ teaspoon of celery seed. Now combine all the ingredients together in a large bowl except the meat. Start mixing them well. Place the meat in the bowl. Refrigerate the bowl for a period of 2 to 3 hours. Preheat the grill and place the grill on direct heat. Start cooking each side of the grill for 6-8 minutes. Serve once its ready to be served. Happy to help you.

The best way I know, is to cook it under the broiler for just a couple of minutes on each side. If you're cooking a thick steak, you might want to sear it well in a skillet and then finish it up in the oven at about 375 degrees or so. FriPilot
This depends on whether the ribs are precooked or not. It is best to precook ribs by boiling them with spices to taste for about 30 min before grilling. This cuts down grilling time by 80%. If the ribs are raw you will have to grill them for about 45 min to an hour depending on how hot the grill is and if there is a cover on the grill. It will cook sooner if there is a lid to cover them to keep in the heat to help with the cooking. Make sure you turn the ribs often to insure even cooking.
