Im working on a 1994 Dodge B250 van it starts sometimes and when it does run it will start popping through the throttle body and then dies. Today I pulled the tank after working my way back from the fuel relay and the wiring harness back to the tank I pulled the tank and it was clean, no dirt like many tanks I've pulled in the past. I reinstalled the Pump after cleaning the screen with starting fluid and blowing it out with air and tested it for flow. it all passed without a problem and so I was taking it back to its owner and it died at a traffic light I noticed when pulling the canistor type fuel pump that it raises and lowers along with the float. so I am thinking that its possible that the slots the pump rides in is sticking (mainly because she never fills the tank up so it may be rusting) so it acts as if the tank was empty I got under the van and tapped the tank with my hand and it started for a little while after it stalled I got under there and again and kicked the tank it ran for a long time. so Im thinking that the slots the pump rides up and down on is need of a lubricantion or spend the $190 on putting in a new pump. There may be an additive out there that lubricates it without having to go through the pain of pulling the tank again and replacing the pump I havent filled the tank to test my theory but it sounds very possible..
probably ignition control module failure
I had an intermittent problem like this with an 2004 Optima EX V6. I changed out the fuel pump and it seems to have corrected the problem, but being intermittent, only time will tell.
Check all wires for loose or corroded fittings. A loose or corroded connection can work one day and not the next. My first guess would be the wire to the starter solenoid is loose.
It is probably an ignition problem. The spark is becoming intermittent at high RPM'sStart with replacing spark plugs
There seems to be a problem with the wiring if these things work occasionally. Run a diagnostics on the wiring from the fuse box.
Had the same problem with my Grand Prix, ended up that the ignition switch had to be replaced. Hope this helps.
It is probably a bad ground most intermittent problems with electric components are
we had the same problem. we changed the Crankshaft Position sensor, and also the camshaft position sensor. changed ignition coils, and the module under the ignition coil, and still had the stalling problem. an auto mechanic bought it from us and he discovered all that it was was a pinched wire under the ignition module.
It's the motor. I had exactly the same problem with my 2000 Avalon XLS. I thought it was the switch so I changed that first. It had no effect. After I changed the motor, everything was fine.
the symptoms you describe sound like a starter problem. replace it and your problems will be through!
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram Quadcab 1500. I usually experience intermittent start problems once every couple of weeks. I put the key in the ignition, turn and all I get is "click"?? The starter motor does not turn. After attempting to start for 5 or 10 minutes, it finally starts and everything is fine. I have changed out the battery cable connectors, checked the alternator, and the battery voltage is around 13.4 volts. I'm at my wits end with this problem. My guess would be a faulty starter motor or some type of sensor??? I just haven't figured out which one is might be???
