Remove oil filter and you will see 2 bolts up inside the adaptor, remove
those, and it will come off of engine. Replace O-Ring and gasket.
You can by those at a parts store ( NAPA )
it is on the drivers side of the block and has two aluminum and rubber lines that connect to the oil filter relocator.
Nothing at all. A long block is the complete engine. A short block is just the engine with no intake, exhaust, or accessories installed.
the gasket comes built in with the oil filter period! there arent any gasket except the one on the filter . find a new mechanic!
Between the oil filter and starter on the engine block, almost behind the starter.
That filter is hard to get at. Look between the rear of the engine block and the fire wall, near the bottom of the engine on the passenger side.
Assuming it's the ever-common 3.1 liter V6, it should be on the front of the block between the radiator and the block.
It has a spin on filter mounted on the engine block.
Have you just changed the filter? Sometimes the old rubber seal sticks to the block and when the new one is put on it comes loose and leaves a gap between the filter and the block. It's real easy to overlook this.
I do not own a '96, but as on all small-block Chvy motors, I believe, it is located on the left rear side of the engine block. The filter is relativly short, and is between the engine block and the exhaust pipe coming off of the left side exhaust manifold.
