This sounds like a wheel bearing issue. Raise the front wheels and turn them by hand. They should turn smoothly with no hint of a vibration unless the bearing is bad. Also check for play in the bearing by rocking the wheel in/out at the top/bottom.
A roaring sound is usually caused by a worn out wheel bearing.
It could be a wheel bearing or the center carrier bearing of the driveshaft.
It could be just tire noise or a bad wheel bearing. latly its been grabbing help
Sounds like it could be a bad wheel bearing
If the roaring sound Changes with speed it could be a bad wheel bearing. If the noises changes with braking check the pads.
Could be a couple of things: tires, cv joint, wheel bearing, or a lion.
It certainly could. It could be a number of things also but you may be able to find a more conclusive answer if this is true. Does it get louder and louder the faster you are driving. Is it louder in a long but slight fast turn in one direction than in another. For instance If you are driving straight and you lightly turn right no change but if you lightly turn left louder humming probably your right front bearing understand? Keep in mind it could be other things but it sounds like you are on the right track. Goyette
Could be as simple as pebble in hub cap Could be wheel bearing Could be loose brake pad
The bearing or the bearing shaft of the front wheels are not aligned and the wheel balance alos could be a reason that tends to wear out the front tires.
if its when you are breaking it is possible it could be a rotor if you hear like a roaring or grinding noise coming from that side also could be a wheel bearing
your wheels have a censor built on the wheel bearing. the sensor could be going bad or the wheel bearing is also. if the abs light on is a sign of a wheel bearing.
98 ford explorer roaring noiseThe roaring sound could be a couple of things. The first is a bad fan clutch if it is not an electric motor running the fan. The second if the sound is coming from the wheel area is a bad bearing or bearings in the wheel hub. Not quite sure what is meant about the rotating sound that you are hearing, this could possibly be from the problems I have mentioned. I too have a 98 ford exploder, if it is your wheel bearing jack up the tire that's makin the noise and see if it wobbles any, if it does, it is your bearing and you need to fix it fast otherwise your tire could fall off
