Having a problem with 1965 impala ignition switch Car will start but then when you shut it off and try to start it again nothing happens Back of switch gets hot when try to start?

The start wire (Purple, if stock) is becoming 'heat resistive' from age. Replace the start wire.
The power supply wire is becoming heat resistive from age, check and or replace the power supply to the switch. You can install a bypass switch, or high load relay under the hood as well (a Ford solenoid works well for that).

Well I am having the same problem with my 66 mustang. I believe the only way to remove the ignition is to drill it out, however I haven't done it yet. But at this point its my only option.
