If your Ford Aerostar is overheating and losing water, it may be a bad radiator. You need to take your car in to get serviced.
You need to have the cooling system pressure tested.
pluged cooling fins in and on the radiador
Its most likely the water pump.
Thermostat could be at the tempure setiting, No antiboil antifreeze coolant, and the water leakage or a bad waterpump.
i had a similar problem on a 97 ford taurus, not overheating but it would boil out the resivior, changed the theromstat, no help, took of the water pump and the impeller was rusted, almost gone, replaced it and it works good, also before changing it, the antifreeze was rust colored. hope this helps.
It MAY help with the overheating problem....but you really need to find out why it's overheating. Blown head gasket, stuck thermostat, bad water pump, fan not coming on, etc.
Your car is overheating when idle because there may be a lack of oil or water in the engine. It can also be a problem with the engine itself. If your car is overheating, simply contact a wrecker or a road assistance company. The police are also available to assist you.
wind and water keep the earth from overheating
Have the water pump checked. My 99 had an overheating problem; guage would go up and sometimes engine would stall. It turned out to be the water pump.
If your Ford Aerostar sputters at high speeds, you might have a problem with the fuel injection system or with the fuel filter. You could also have water in the fuel lines, bad gas, or even a spark plug fouling issue.
Check the thermostat first. I had an intermittent overheating problem on my 02 for almost a year, changed the thermostat and it never happened again. If that doesn't work, secondly I would check the water pump.
