For hundreds of years Russia had been ruled by the czars, monarchs, but as the czars slowly dragged russia back to the dark ages, a communist revolution led by Vladimir Lenin in 1917 created the U.S.S.R. then in 1991 the U.S.S.R was dissolved by gorbacha.
