Islam influenced West Africa in various ways. Most of the countries in West Africa took up the beliefs and living styles of the Muslims and they forfeited their traditional beliefs for their new-found faith.

Islam was adopted mainly by Arabs. Arabs conquered lands and formed empires, in which they also spread Islam by doing so.

how is Islam a major part of the daily lives of many north africans
Islam is a true, logic, and authentic religion. Hundreds of millions of people are following Islam religion. So, it is not surprising that many non Muslims (in Africa and over the world) convert to Islam. However, we should not ignore that many Africans also convert to Christianity being persuaded by the support of the Christian missionaries in Africa.
There is no or little farming in much or north Africa along with southern Africa because of the climate. It's getting farther away from the equator and the climate starts to get colder.
No, it is actually in between India, the Middle East, and the rest of North western Africa. So now you no and don't ever ask this question again!
Africa is a continent, so it does not have a capital. It has lots of countries each with their own capital. Asia is also a continent, so it does not have a capital either. It also has lots of countries each with their own capital.
The major reason for importing gold to North Africa is that the North Africans didn't have gold mines so the only way to get gold was to have it imported.
There is a problem in that this question assumes that "Islam", a religion/concept/ideology, etc. can have its own agency. "Islam" is only extant at the will of its believers, so we can answer how Islam made it to Africa, but assert no existential reason "why Africa was chosen" or something similar, since Islam did no choosing. Islam was first brought to Africa (Egypt specifically) by the Islamic conquests under the Rightly-Guided Caliphate. The successor Umayyad Caliphate conquered all of North Africa from 640-680 C.E. and brought the religion with them as they conquered. In some areas, especially the urban centers, conversion to Islam occurred rapidly (100-200 years) but in the rural areas, conversion was generally slower. There were only a few attempts in the first 300 years of Islam in North Africa to convert people to Islam by force. As for Sub-Saharan Africa, Islam was originally brought and spread by Arab and Amazigh traders from North Africa. Their educated nature and good disposition led to the peaceful conversion of the African civilization of Ghana to Islam and the founding of the Islamic Mali Empire and Songhai Empire. In the Horn of Africa and Sudan, Christianity were relatively firmly planted. However, Muslims began to make in-roads by forming naval city-states in Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania. The Egyptian conquest of Sudan several centuries later led to the conversion of the north Sudanese to Islam.
The Arabs and Muslim have contributed immensely to the spread of Islam by spreading it to other continents such as Africa. A Muslim is a practitioner of Islam, so if Muslims did not exist, Islam would no longer be practiced (just like the Ancient Greek Religion with Zeus is no longer practiced). The Arabs were the first Muslims and were responsible for spreading Islam throughout North Africa and the Middle East.

Chad is just north of central Africa, so could be considered to be in the north of Africa.
Islam is most widely practiced in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia regions. Countries like Indonesia, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Egypt have some of the largest Muslim populations in the world.
Prophet Muhammad came in Makkah ( Saudi Arabia ) and so it was from that Arabian Peninsula that Islam began to spread. And as Asia is near to Middle East, Islam had its most influence there and also in Africa. The Europe and North America were far away and so the Muslim preachers could not go there to preach and so the spread of Islam in EU and North America was delayed. But now, Islam has also started to spread rapidly in other countries. YEA BOYYYY!!!!=]bitch!!!!
