Exactly as you state. Standing in front of the car looking at the engine. Left to right on the front near the radiator 1-3-5 on the rear side next to the firewall left to right 2-4-6.
On your 1997 Ford Thunderbird : The engine cooling radiator is at the front of the engine compartment . The radiator is connected to the engine by ( 2 ) larger diameter rubber hoses . ( 1 hose at the top of the radiator and 1 hose at the bottom of the radiator on the other end of the radiator ) If you have air conditioning , the air conditioning condensor will be in front of the radiator
In the front area of the engine compartment . It has 2 good size rubber hoses that connect it to the engine. 1 that runs from the engine to the top of the radiator and a 2nd hose that runs from the bottom of the radiator on the other end to the water pump on the engine .
Ford numbers its engines in the following manner: The first cylinder (#1) is located on the passenger side nearest the radiator. Count each cylinder numerically on the passenger side toward the back of the engine starting with #1 (2, 3, 4). The other 4 cylinders are the same on the other site. #5 is the one nearest the radiator and 6, 7, 8 are counted towards the back of the engine. This method will also work for their six cylinder engines.
At the front of the engine compartment - there are 2 large rubber hoses that connect the radiator to the engine and water pump - one at the top of the radiator on one end and a second hose from the bottom of the radiator at the other end
1.drain engine coolant 2.remove the upper and lower radiator hoses, and the atf cooler hoses 3.disconnect the fan motor connectors and ect switch connector 4.remove the radiator upper brackets, then pull up the radiator 5.remove the fan shroud assemblies and other parts from the radiator install the radiator in the reverse order of removal set the upper and lower cushions securely fill the radiator with engine coolant and bleed air
A 318 engine starts with the number one plug at the front of the drivers side. Number 2 is on the passenger side front, an the numbers stagger to the back of the engine.
4.7L it is under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks to the engine. All other engines in 2000, under the housing where the upper radiator hose hooks.
Not enough air movement through the radiator, or around the motor; not enough radiator surface for the size of the motor / no thermostat, too much water movement through the radiator (water not cooling in radiator). - (Ignoring other obvious problems).
Yes. Can clog coolant passages in your engine and other areas.
This should give you some idea http://www.ineedaradiator.com/servlet/Categories
check that the radiator hoses are not soft with engine hot , squeeze hose with your hand you should have strong resistance in hose if they are good other thing is to not fill radiator thru radiator, but to fill thru overflow bottle
When your car smells like the engine is hot, is the engine hot? If it smells hot and the engine is not hot, then you have coolant escaping onto a hot surface. You may have bad radiator hoses, a leaky radiator, a blown gasket, or some other problem. You need to find the leak.
