Well if you are talking about something similar to the tale of Romeo and Juliet, the sister in-law being the two families, tell her no, do not divorce the man, do whatever the hell you want.

Unless HE is doing something to harm you, divorcing him when he is sick (regardless of a meddling sister and "loneliness"), there is no good way to explain it that doesn't make you look bad. There are ways around her (banning her from hospital room, etc if she is causing any kind of difficulties with his medical care). And loneliness is something everyone deals with once in a while. Your husband is sick, you should stick by him. There are support groups out there that can help with the loneliness and help you plug into a community of people who are dealing with things that you can relate to. If you are just looking for a way to bail because you don't want to take care of a sick husband then you should just do it and stop trying to justify a crappy solution to "your" problem. Apparently those wedding vows "in sickness and in health" mean zip to you, so maybe he'd be better of without you.
